What an amazing evening was had by all at the 2018 Metal One World Players’ Party at the One World Trade Center, NYC on August 22, 2018.

Players vying for their part of the $50,000 Ping Pong Shootout purse included the likes of James Blake, Mischa Zverev, Donald Young, Redfoo, Lucas Pouille, Matt Kuchar, Nick Monroe, Tommy Haas, Mark Knowles, Nick Monroe, Treat Huey, talented amateurs, and so many more.

In addition to the fantastic ping pong, celebrities and guests enjoyed an evening of mixing, mingling and networking.  Celebrities in attendance included Grigor Dimitrov, Caroline Wozniacki, Agnieszka Radwanska, Dascha Polanco, Christopher McDonald, Nicole Scherzinger along with others who stopped in for a peak of the action. Amateurs and guests enjoyed interacting with pros and celebrities throughout the evening.

Also in attendance was a wonderful mix of media coverage including the Tennis Channel, the ATP,  the WTA and Outside the Ball, along with several other publications who were excited to cover this unique event!

The evening vibe was heightened by amazing food and creatively themed signature cocktails.  The VIP reception dinner had pros, celebrities and guests feasting on gourmet caesar kale salad,  pan-roasted chicken and fabulous couscous.

During the main event, heavy horderves were passed including yellowfin tuna, poached shrimp, buttermilk fried chicken, and beef sliders.  Desserts tempted guests towards the close of the evening with key lime meringue tartlets, dedicant double fudge brownies, chocolate date rounds, and eggplant jerky.

 Dr. Smood provided a lovely sampling of their ‘smart food for a good mood’ which players and guest loved.  Tandoori quinoa, cashew kale crunch, vegan sandwiches and matchia chia pudding samplers.

Creative signature cocktails ranged from the ‘Grand Slam’ to a sampling of detox and beauty juices as well as a Watermelon Sunrise and Fresh & Frisky Whiskey!  

This second annual event began a bit earlier with the inclusion of a new element, a fast paced qualifier.  The top two winners, Cristavo Franza and Maurice Russo were able to win their way into the main $50,000 draw.  After live music by The Tinman, Marshall Seese, the main event commenced. As the night progressed, competition became fierce and the finalists, Andreas Siljestroem, who won last year’s shootout, played Tim Blenkiron.  After a well played and hard fought final, Blenkiron became this year’s 2018 Metal One World Players’ Party winner taking home the the $30,000 prize. Siljestroem did not leave empty handed with a $15,000 second place prize.  

The evening was a successful one for the charity beneficiary, The National Tennis Foundation, where funds were not only raised through a live auction, but many of those attending graciously gave monetary donations.  

As the electrifying evening at the Freedom Tower came to an end, guests made their way over to SPiN Ping Pong Social Club for the official after party with the legendary Redfoo!  Guests enjoyed dancing into the wee hours of the night and continued their ping pong successes during open play at the club.
